Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, the owners of the Birch By Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa, have been detained in Thailand after allegedly fleeing the country following a deadly fire that claimed 25 lives. India's ambassador in Thailand, Nagesh Singh, confirmed the detention, stating, They will be sent back [to India]. The incident that prompted this international response occurred early Sunday morning, when a blaze broke out in the club, a popular nightlife venue known for its vibrant atmosphere.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which is thought to have begun due to fireworks being lit inside the club. A significant number of the victims were staff members, while others included tourists enjoying the nightlife in Goa, a region famed for its beaches and party scene.

The Luthra brothers left India shortly after the fire, prompting police to seek assistance from Interpol to track them down. Their attorney claimed in court that the brothers are victims of a witch hunt amidst a burgeoning investigation into the incident. Goa's Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, has indicated that arrests related to the incident are still being made, with six individuals already detained.

Saurabh Luthra issued a statement on social media expressing profound grief and underscoring the management's solidarity with the families affected by the tragedy, promising support and cooperation during this difficult time.

This tragic event has catalyzed discussions on safety regulations in nightlife establishments, with experts calling for stricter enforcement to prevent similar incidents in the future. Goa’s appeal as a tourist hotspot may face scrutiny as calls for accountability gain momentum following this unfortunate event.
